Information we collect

HiveTalk collects the information you provide, including your email address, display name, profile photo, optional bio, optional country code, rooms you create or join, follows, conversation reactions, private room-management alerts, direct messages, and safety reports you submit.

Microphone and photos

Microphone access is used only when you join and speak in a live audio room. Photo access is used only when you choose a profile image. HiveTalk does not record live room audio.

Optional country display

If you turn on Show my country, HiveTalk uses your device's region setting to save and display a two-letter country code and flag on your public profile. HiveTalk does not store your IP address for this feature. You can turn the setting off at any time.

How we use information

We use your information to provide accounts, profiles, live rooms, following, private direct messaging, moderation, safety features, customer support, and to prevent abuse.

Service providers

HiveTalk uses Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage, and LiveKit to deliver live audio. These providers process information as needed to operate the service.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your display name, profile photo, optional bio, follows, participation in public rooms, and country flag when enabled may be visible to other HiveTalk users. Room-management alerts are shown only to that room's host and co-hosts. Direct messages are presented only to the two conversation participants. Authorized service personnel may access stored information when necessary for safety, support, legal obligations, or service operations, including when content is reported.

Retention and deletion

We retain account information while your account is active and as needed for safety, security, and legal obligations. You can permanently delete your account and associated content from the Profile tab in the app. Reports submitted by others may be retained for safety after identifiers linking them to a deleted account are removed.

Your choices

You can follow or unfollow people, change or remove your profile photo and bio, turn country display off, leave rooms, block or unblock users, report content, and delete your account. Blocking prevents direct messaging between the two accounts. You can deny microphone or photo access in iOS Settings, although related features will not work.

Children

HiveTalk is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
